Goal Setting Preparations: What do I really want?

You may have heard the saying, “If you fail to plan, you plan to fail.” Yet, one thing must precede planning. We need to ask ourselves the question: What do I really, really want? Is there anything in my life that I would like to change?

Or, when life does not seem to be interesting or when you feel your life has lost steam, we may ask, “Why am I here on earth? What’s my job? What’s my goal? What is my purpose?

What is my mission on earth? What is my role in the community? Am I called to do something?

While I am alive, is there anything else that I want to DO, to BE and to HAVE?
Do I love my lifestyle? Do I want to be happy, healthy, holy and wealthy?

Am I committed to “the philosophy of total human development?” Am I prepared to change? Indeed, it is reasonable to expect the same results if you keep on doing the same things.

Or, is there any area in my life that I would like to develop or improve further? What are my values? Am I living based on these?

We need time to reflect on these. We need a few days to look back on our lives. What happened in my life in the past? What is happening in my life now? What do I want to happen in my life in the future?

Once we have answered these questions, you will see your perspective in life clearer than when you started this exercise.
